The Indonesian island province of Bali is worldwide famous for its holiday and tourism industry and ancient Hindu culture. But its communities have been heavily impacted by natural and man-made disasters.

The Bali Children Foundation has worked very closely with orphanages developing a sustainability model tested in two different faith based orphanages - a Christian supported facility in Singaraja on the northern coast and a Hindu establishment in Melaya on the western coast.
As the majority of the children being looked after have at least one parent, both orphanages primarily function as care and education centres for destitute and disadvantaged children.
The Foundation’s special focus is to work in remote locations enabling education for children in those areas. Our vision is for every Balinese child to be able to access education.
In 2008, we expanded our work beyond orphanage based education into the wider community commencing our first “Education in the Village Project” in an extremely poor and remote area of northern Bali. In June 2009 we expanded Education in the village to cover an additional 100 plus children in Banjar district Northern Bali.
